PROJECT PILLOT
TRAINING FOR EDUCATORS
Educators from the PILLOT project organized a joint training focused on methods and activities for integrated learning of language and cultural understanding.
In July, as part of the European PILLOT project, a successful joint training session for educators took place in Italy. The training and project meeting were held from July 8 to July 12, hosted by a local partner, the educational and cultural association Stazione Utopia.
A total of 17 educators from Poland, Romania, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Luxembourg participated in this event, which focused on selected methods for incorporating culture and language into adult education for individuals with migration or refugee backgrounds. The primary goal of the joint educational meeting was to provide an opportunity for educators from partner countries to meet, discuss selected methods, and offer each other further support for practical implementation.
This educational and training mobility was a highlight of the project so far, as it enabled our educators, who work directly with migrants and refugees, to spend several intensive and productive days engaging in diverse activities.
The event kicked off on Monday, July 8, with an informal opening meeting, where participants introduced themselves, networked, and discussed their specific activities within the PILLOT project and the topic of integrated education.
On the second day, participants visited the Museo degli Innocenti, where the PILLOT team became acquainted with the activities of the Amir project.
Amir is an initiative of our local partner organization, Stazione Utopia, and its activities include thematic tours of Florence through the eyes of foreigners who have settled in Italy. Participants met a local Amir guide and experienced one of his tours at the Museo degli Innocenti.
The afternoon was dedicated to a project consortium management meeting. Led by the project coordinator, Katarzyna Žák-Caplot, the team discussed key organizational and substantive aspects of the project, including financial management, evaluation and quality monitoring, dissemination activities, and updates to the "Repertoire of Approaches to Language Education in the European Context."
The day concluded interactively, with participants trying out one of the project activities—a city game prepared by the Polish project team from the Museum of Warsaw.
Over the next three days, the participants continued to reflect on selected methods and discuss practical experiences with various activities.
The entire joint training for language and cultural educators was a success. All participants appreciated the opportunity to meet fellow adult educators, exchange experiences, learn from one another, and discuss activity progress in person.
Further information about the training is available on the project website.
